PETA slams Jessica Simpson's pet pig plan

New York (ANI): Singer Jessica Simpson has been blasted by animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for her desire to purchase a pet pig. The singer posted a message on Twitter revealing that she wanted a pig, but questioned whether she would have to give up eating the animal.

"I'm thinking about getting a pet pig. Does this mean I'll have to give up pork?" she wrote. Simpson's comments were quickly picked up by PETA, who slammed her for wanting an animal as an 'accessory'.

"Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don't belong in Jessica's stomach or carted around as her latest accessory," the New York Daily News quoted PETA as telling UsMagazine.com.
