The
family
of
Amy
Winehouse
think
that
abruptly
quitting
alcohol
cost
her
life.
They
believe
her
decision
to
give
up
booze
completely
instead
of
quitting
gradually
as
advised
by
her
doctor
might
have
done
more
harm
than
good
to
her
body.
They
believe
that
her
tiny
body
could
not
cope
with
such
a
drastic
withdrawal.
“Abstinence
gave
her
body
such
a
fright
they
thought
it
was
eventually
the
cause
of
her
death,"
The
Sun
quoted
a
close
source
of
the
singer's
family
as
saying.
The
source
also
said
that
Mitch
hinted
during
his
last
tribute
to
his
daughter
that
her
decision
to
quit
drinking
completely
was
the
reason
for
her
death.
“He
said
doctors
had
told
Amy
to
gradually
reduce
her
intake
of
alcohol
and
to
avoid
bingeing
at
all
costs.
Amy
told
him
she
couldn't
do
that.
It
was
all
or
nothing
and
she
gave
up
completely.
Mitch
said
the
shock
of
giving
up,
after
everything
she
had
been
through
over
a
bad
few
years,
was
just
too
much
for
her
to
take,"
said
the
source.
Doctor
Carol
Cooper
also
endorsed
Mitch's
claim.
“The
heaviest
drinkers
have
a
particularly
severe
form
of
alcohol
withdrawal
called
delirium
tremens,
or
Dts.
They
may
fall
into
a
stupor
and
sleep
it
off,
or
lapse
into
a
coma
-
or
have
dangerous
seizures,"
said
the
Sun
doctor.
Amy
Winehouse,
aged
27,
died
at
her
London
home
on
July
23.
Police
has
not
found
the
cause
of
her
death.
Her
mortal
remains
were
laid
to
rest
at
a
funeral
service
held
on
July
26.
