Rocker
Courtney
Love
is
said
to
have
settled
the
lawsuit
filed
by
fashion
designer
Dawn
Simorangkir
by
agreeing
to
pay
430,000
dollars.
Dawn
had
filed
a
lawsuit
against
Love
in
January
claiming
that
her
defamatory
tweets
like
'drug-pushing
prostitute'
and
an
'asswipe
nasty
lying
hosebag
thief'
had
ambushed
her
career.
In
her
lawsuit,
Dawn
Simorangkir
had
claimed
that
Courtney
had
launched
a
20-minute
Twitter
rampage
against
her
in
2009.
Love
argued
her
comments
were
protected
as
free
speech
and
that
Dawn
could
not
prove
how
the
tweets
were
damaging
to
her.
Instead
of
paying,
Love
went
on
several
social
media
sites
and
posted
the
unflattering
words
about
her.
"Her
reprehensible
defamatory
comments
were
completely
false
and
430,000
dollars
is
quite
a
significant
way
to
say
I
am
sorry.
One
would
hope
that,
given
this
disaster,
restraint
of
pen,
tongue
and
tweet
would
guide
Ms
Love's
future
conduct," the
Hollywood
Reporter
Simorangkir's
lawyer
Bryan
Freedman
as
telling.
However,
in
a
statement
to
the
Reporter,
Courtney
Love's
attorney
James
Janowitz
said
that
the
sum
would
be
handed
over
to
Dawn
Simorangkir
in
a
series
of
payments
over
the
next
three
years.
