London
(ANI):
Tom
Jones
and
Elvis
Presley"s
was
a
friendship
that
went
beyond
their
mutual
admiration
for
each
other"s
talent.
When
Jones
and
Presley
first
met
in
1965
in
Hawaii,
it
was
virtually
love
at
first
sight,
reports
the
Daily
Mail.
“Right
from
the
start,
they
were
like
a
couple
of
schoolboys.
I
never
saw
Presley
so
happy
in
the
company
of
another
man," said
Chris
Hutchins.
The
two
stars
would
certainly
exchange
intimate
secrets.
Jones
stood
by
Presley
when
Priscilla
left
him
for
his
karate
instructor,
Mike
Stone,
in
1972.
Mike
Stone
later
told
Hutchins
that
Presley
had
threatened
to
come
after
him
with
an
M16
rifle.
He
had
to
be
sedated
before
someone
got
seriously
hurt.
It
was
not
the
only
time
that
Jones
had
seen
Presley
angry.
Whenever
John
Lennon"s
name
came
up,
he
would
fly
into
a
rage.
Presley
got
annoyed
with
Lennon
because
of
his
anti-war
feelings
that
he
expressed
the
moment
he
stepped
into
the
massive
lounge
and
spotted
the
table
lamps
—
model
wagons
engraved
with
the
message,
“All
the
way
with
LBJ." Lennon
hated
President
Lyndon
B
Johnson
for
raising
the
stakes
in
the
Vietnam
War.
Presley
allied
himself
with
the
FBI
director
Edgar
Hoover
and
encouraged
him
to
have
Lennon
thrown
out
of
the
U.S.
“He
should"ve
been
kicked
out
long
ago," Presley
told
Jones
that
night.
“I
had
a
run-in
with
him
myself,"
Jones
replied.
“He
made
some
smart
remark
at
a
TV
studios
in
England,
where
we
were
appearing
on
the
show
Thank
Your
Lucky
Stars.
I
wanted
to
take
him
outside
and
see
what
sort
of
hiding
his
intellect
would
stand."
