Nickolas Ashford loses his battle with throat cancer

Legendary songwriter Nickolas Ashford passed away in a New York City hospital on August 22 afternoon. The one-half of Motown Duo Ashford and Simpson had been battling throat cancer with radiation treatment. Nick's wife Valerie Simpson and children were at his bedside when he died.

Nickolas Ashford's friend and former publicist Liz Rosenberg has confirmed the news of his death. Liz revealed that Nick had been battling throat cancer with radiation treatment and his death was quite sudden. He added that his wife Valerie and children were with him when he died.

Nick wrote a number of popular songs with his wife Valerie. The songs like 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough', 'Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing', 'You're All I Need to Get By' and 'Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand' are his ever green songs. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002.

However, the sudden demise of Nickolas Ashford has shocked many in the Music industry.
