hit
reality
show
American
Idol
appeared
to
be
taking
a
dig
at
other
popular
shows
like
The
Voice
and
X
Factor
during
Fox"s
presentation
at
the
Television
Critics
Association
press
tour
in
Pasadena,
California
on
Sunday.
They
said
that
their
show
was
the
original
singing
competition
that
produces
stars.
Talking
about
the
Idol
alum
Kelly
Clarkson,
who
headed
to
The
Voice
to
act
as
a
guest
adviser,
Mike
Darnell,
the
president
of
alternative
entertainment
said,
"It's
a
compliment
to
Idol.
Other
shows
want
to
use
our
stars
for
their
shows.
We're
not
hiring
a
lot
of
people
from
The
Voice
to
be
on
our
show."
Executive
producer
Ken
Warwick
said,
"This
is
the
show
that
produces
the
stars." And
he
added
an
extra
oomph
to
his
statement
by
calling
British
X
Factor
winner
Leona
Lewis
a
"one-and-a-half-hit
wonder."
Meanwhile,
Judge
Randy
Jackson
said,
"It's
like
second-chance
theater
over
there
(The
Voice)."
