American Idol crew takes a dig at The Voice and X Factor

The crew of the hit reality show American Idol appeared to be taking a dig at other popular shows like The Voice and X Factor during Fox"s presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California on Sunday. They said that their show was the original singing competition that produces stars.

Talking about the Idol alum Kelly Clarkson, who headed to The Voice to act as a guest adviser, Mike Darnell, the president of alternative entertainment said, "It's a compliment to Idol. Other shows want to use our stars for their shows. We're not hiring a lot of people from The Voice to be on our show."

Executive producer Ken Warwick said, "This is the show that produces the stars." And he added an extra oomph to his statement by calling British X Factor winner Leona Lewis a "one-and-a-half-hit wonder." Meanwhile, Judge Randy Jackson said, "It's like second-chance theater over there (The Voice)."
