concert
received
overwhelming
response
in
Lahore
on
Monday.
But
the
gig
ended
with
a
stampede,
which
claimed
the
lives
of
students.
According
to
the
police,
the
stampede
occurred
when
private
security
guards
used
batons
to
push
back
a
group
of
girls
who
rushed
towards
Aslam
to
get
his
autograph.
Atif
Aslam's
concert
was
held
at
Alhamra
Cultural
Complex
in
Lahore
on
Monday
and
a
large
number
of
students
of
the
Punjab
College
of
Commerce
had
gathered
at
the
venue.
Deputy
Inspector
General
of
Police
Ghulam
Mahmood
Dogar
told
PTI,
"When
the
concert
ended,
some
girls
rushed
towards
Mr
Aslam
to
get
his
autograph.
To
save
Mr
Aslam
from
the
crowd,
the
security
guards
resorted
to
a
light
baton
charge
which
caused
panic
among
the
girls."
According
to
Dogar
the
stampede
occurred
at
the
exit
door
and
many
students
were
injured
in
the
incident.
Although
the
injured
were
taken
to
nearby
hospitals,
the
doctors
could
not
save
the
life
of
three
female
business
students.
Officials
described
the
condition
of
five
injured
persons
as
critical.
