Popular K-pop band BTS member V has tested positive for coronavirus, their management agency confirmed on Tuesday. In a statement posted on fan community forum Weverse, the band's management company BIGHIT said V, whose full name is Kim Tae-hyung, visited the hospital Tuesday afternoon "after experiencing a mild sore throat and took the PCR test.

He was diagnosed with COVID-19 tonight". The 26-year-old singer has completed two rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations and has no extraordinary symptoms other than "a mild fever and sore throat. He is currently undergoing treatment at home while waiting for further guidelines from the health care authorities," the agency shared in its statement.

According to BIGHIT, V was in contact with the other members of the band on Saturday but everyone was wearing masks. "None of the BTS members other than V are presenting any symptoms, and everyone received negative results from the preemptive self-tests," it further said.

In December 2021, fellow BTS members Suga, group leader RM, Jin also tested positive for the virus.

And in January this year, BTS member Jimin went through surgery for acute appendicitis while also recovering from COVID-19 The seven-member band is currently on an "extended period of rest" after their performance at four in-person concerts in Los Angeles late last year.
