Aarakshan – Music Review

Prakash Jha's Aarakshan, like his earlier movie Raajneeti, is a serious film. One cannot be sure what to expect from the album, as the movie is coming up with a backdrop of a reservation system. Well, when music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is at the helm, we can expect something catching tunes from the upcoming Bollywood film. Pandit Channulal Mishra and Shreya Ghoshal have crooned the classical track, which is the best song of the album. You need just one hearing to makes yourself listen the number again and again. The mesmerizing voice and good instrumental works make it an instant hit. Indeed, Pandit Mishra recreates the magic later in the album with solo number 'Saans Albeli....' with the same tune.

People always expect an energetic and lively song when Shankar Mahadevan comes behind the mike. Well, the musician's voice has perfectly fitted to the track but the saddest part of the number is that the audience have heard dozens of similar songs and do not be surprised if it goes unnoticed. Nonethless, it is an inspirational track.

An upgraded version of earlier song, which is aimed at giving variety in the album. The track undoubtedly makes you to shake a leg or two.

Verdict:
The album comprises of decent tracks with a right mixture of melody and beats. 'Achha Lagta Hai', 'Kaun Si Dor' and Saans Albeli are the highlights of the album.
