Abhishek Banerjee Talks About Creative Differences With Stolen Producer, He Almost Walked Out Of The Project
Abhishek Banerjee reveals behind-the-scenes creative disagreements with producer Gaurav Dhingra during 'Stolen's' production. Their resolution process highlights the importance of collaboration and mutual respect in filmmaking.

Abhishek Banerjee, known for his captivating role in "Stolen," recently opened up about the behind-the-scenes challenges during the film's production. As an executive producer, Banerjee initially faced creative disagreements with the film's producer, Gaurav Dhingra. These differences nearly led him to abandon the project.
Reflecting on this period, Banerjee shared, "Honestly, when I first read the script for Stolen, I loved the story and the character, but I felt there were certain creative aspects that needed deeper exploration—especially with the character's emotional arc. I'm the kind of actor who likes to completely believe in the character I'm playing, and unless I feel it in my gut, I can't do justice to the performance."
Creative Differences and Resolution
Banerjee further explained that he had a significant disagreement with Dhingra over these creative changes. He was firm that refining these details was crucial before filming began. His intention wasn't to be difficult but to ensure the film reached its full potential.
He continues, "I'll always respect Gaurav for what he did next. Instead of brushing it under the carpet, he flew down to Delhi, found out I was attending an event, and came there personally to talk it out. We sat down face-to-face and discussed every point, every doubt I had. He listened patiently, and we worked through all our differences. He made me feel heard, and that's rare in this industry. It wasn't about egos—it was about making the film the best it could be."
A Journey of Mutual Respect
Their collaboration is a testament to how creative differences can lead to productive discussions and improved outcomes. Banerjee appreciated Dhingra's efforts to align their visions by addressing concerns directly. This approach gave him confidence to fully commit to "Stolen."
"I think that's what great collaborations are made of—creative differences that lead to honest conversations, and ultimately to something even better than what you first imagined," Banerjee remarked. He expressed gratitude towards Dhingra for going beyond expectations and ensuring their visions aligned.
With "Stolen" now trending on Prime Video and winning audiences' hearts, this tale of compromise and mutual respect highlights both Banerjee's and Dhingra's dedication to their craft.
