ZEE5's newest series Aga Aai Aaho Aai has finally premiered on Friday (July 24). I enjoyed the drama, binge-watching it in a day. So, I decided to share my (Abhishek Ranjit) honest review of the ZEE5 web show.
The show is proof that family dramas don't need constant conflict to remain engaging. With its optimistic outlook and emotionally grounded storytelling, the Marathi Zee 5 original offers a refreshing perspective on marriage, motherhood and the evolving dynamics of modern families. Is it worth watching? Definitely.
The series explores the emotional transition of a newly married woman as she moves into a new household, balancing memories of her maternal home while discovering acceptance in another. What sets the narrative apart is its refusal to rely on familiar television tropes. Instead of manufacturing friction between the women in the family, the show celebrates empathy, friendship and emotional maturity.

Hruta Durgule anchors the series with a heartfelt performance that makes her character's journey both relatable and endearing. Renuka Shahane and Nirmiti Sawant are exceptional, bringing depth and warmth to characters who could have easily fallen into stereotypes in lesser hands. Their evolving friendship becomes one of the series' strongest emotional pillars, offering a refreshing portrayal rarely explored in mainstream family dramas.
Varun Narvekar directs the series with restraint, allowing emotions to emerge naturally rather than through exaggerated confrontations. The writing by Kalyani Pandit strikes a fine balance between humour, sentiment and realism, making the characters feel like people audiences might recognise from their own lives.
I have to give a shoutout to the production team as they have managed to capture the essence of Pune and Kolhapur. How can I not mention the supporting cast, including Suyog Gorhe, who add their own charm to the plot?
Every episode reinforces the show's central message-that families grow stronger through acceptance, communication, and unconditional support.
