Anupam Bhattacharya On Khakhee - The Bengal Chapter: It Was A Compact Role But An Important Role

Actor Anupam Bhattacharya has carved a niche for himself in the industry and is known for playing roles that leave an impact, no matter what the length of the character is. He was recently seen in Khakee: The Bengal Chapter and shared that his character was critical for the story to move forward.

He plays Biswajit Ghosh, a senior IPS officer, in the show. Talking about his character, he said, "It was a compact role but an important one, as I play a senior IPS officer who is not corrupt but not very competent as well to handle a hardcore crime syndicate at a sensitive time like elections, and hence his stay is short-lived, with his position filled by the hero of the show."

Asked why he signed on for the project, and he said, "Neeraj Pandey, his vision, and the quality of projects he backs! And Khakee 1 Bihar Chapter has already proven the market."

Set against Bengal's complex socio-political backdrop, the show required performances rooted in authenticity. But Anupam revealed that his character did not demand much preparation. He said, "I didn't have to prepare much as such; I needed a good personality and the ability to speak fluent Bengali. I fit the bill."

But even with the subject being so serious and intense, the actor's character brought the much-needed light moments. " "Even in a very serious crime story set up, my character Biswajit Ghosh lent some light moments," he said, adding that the character was real and interesting in its own way.

Reflecting on the experience, Anupam concluded, "It felt satisfying being part of a quality show, which I knew from the onset was going to be a hit with the audience."
