Singer. Composer. Now, actor. For Anusha Mani, life's latest twist came not with a song but a script - one that led her to play Charu in the hit series Hai Junoon - Dream Dare Dominate. Known for her soulful voice and powerful playback vocals, Mani's venture into acting was never part of the plan.
"Playing Charu was the most unexpected turn of my life," says Anusha. "From never having any inclination or interest in acting or facing the camera, to playing such a beautiful character, life has definitely taught me to 'never say never.'"
Charu, a layered and emotionally rich character, demanded vulnerability and strength in equal measure - a challenge Mani embraced with authenticity. But stepping into Charu's world also meant confronting choices the character made that didn't align with Anusha's own values.
"I wish she stood up for herself a lot sooner," Anusha confesses. "I wish she had the courage to fight for herself and stand her ground. She gave in too often, and that's not what Anusha would do."
That very conflict - between Charu's decisions and Anusha's instinct - is perhaps what made her portrayal so compelling. Behind the scenes, Mani approached acting with the same sincerity that defines her music career. There was just a willingness to explore a new creative medium. Her performance resonated with audiences, opening up a new chapter in her artistic journey.
