She bared her heart out as she talked about her upcoming projects and how she wishes to team up with Imtiaz Ali for a dream project.
Here are excerpts from the interview-
1. You have been winning hearts for your role in Bhay. Congratulations. How do you feel after receiving so much love from all corners?
Honestly, it feels very surreal and deeply gratifying. As an actor, when you put your work out there and it genuinely connects with people, that feeling is unmatched. I've been receiving so many messages from viewers saying how much they related to my character and how real she felt on screen and that really means a lot. It reassures you that the effort, the honesty, and the emotional investment were worth it.
2. Bhay is not your normal, run-of-the-mill show. Did you take time to accept the offer, or were you immediately convinced?
I've grown up watching horror shows and films even as a kid, I was always more intrigued by that space. Shows like Aahat and Ssshhh..Phir Koi Hai fascinated me. So when I was offered Asavari in Bhay, where the character is living in a house with a lot of spirits, I was instantly drawn in.That said, being a fan of the genre and actually being part of it are two very different things. What really convinced me was the fact that the story is inspired by true events. It wasn't horror built on jump scares it was rooted in emotion, fear, and very human reactions. That's what makes the show feel real, and I think that's exactly why audiences have connected with it so strongly.
3. How did you prep for your role? You showcased vulnerability and emotional strength on screen. Was it difficult shooting in such an eerie setting?
My preparation was mostly internal. I focused on understanding Asavari's emotional journey her fear, confusion, her bond with her brother, and how she processes the presence in her home. Once I stayed honest to her situation, the vulnerability came naturally.
The locations and the way the show was directed added a lot to that honesty. Everything was kept very raw and real nothing felt put on or exaggerated. Some places had an eerie silence that automatically pulled you into the character's mindset. Because of that, even the reactions that came out on screen were very real. Emotionally, it required staying open and present, and that's what made the performance feel organic.
4. How was your experience shooting with Karan Tacker and the rest of the cast? Did you experience any paranormal activity while shooting?
Working with Karan Tacker and the rest of the cast was a great experience. Everyone was extremely professional and committed, which naturally pushes you to raise your own performance.
As for paranormal experiences, there was one moment that stayed with me. While shooting a scene that's also seen in the trailer where Asavari checks if her brother is in his room, I rehearsed the action before the shot started. I walked ahead, turned back and suddenly felt something very eerie. Sometimes, even when you don't see anything, your body senses that something isn't right before your mind does. That's exactly what I felt in that moment. I don't know whether it was the character taking over or something else, but it definitely didn't feel normal.
5. What's next for you as an artist? Any upcoming projects you'd like to talk about?
I've just finished working on another show for Amazon which will be out soon, and I'm really excited about that. Beyond that, I'm at a stage where I want to be very intentional with my choices.
Content consumption is changing rapidly. Audiences today want stories that feel real, relatable, creative, and slightly out of the box. As someone who has done theatre for nearly a decade, I'm drawn to layered, emotionally rich characters that challenge me as an actor. There are a few conversations happening right now, and I'm grateful that the web space has opened up so many opportunities for actors especially outsiders to showcase meaningful work.
6. Who has been your dream collaboration? Any filmmaker who is on your mind?
I've been a huge fan of Imtiaz Ali and his films for a long time. I really admire the way he showcases his characters and how beautifully he brings out their emotional complexities on screen.
That's the kind of work I want to do as an actor. Ultimately, I want to be known for the characters I bring to life and the stories I become a part of, not just for how I look on screen.
