Campus Beats 6 Actor Suvansh Dhar Shares His Honest Take

Recently, Suvansh opened up about improvisation in acting and explained why spontaneous moments can sometimes make scenes feel more believable on screen. For the actor, improvisation is not about changing the scene completely but about making the performance feel alive in the moment.

Sharing his thoughts, Suvansh said, "Improvisation is best when you are working with a co-actor. I think it makes you understand that you are actually not pretending to be somebody, but you are real in that moment."

He also pointed out that improvisation only works properly when actors trust each other during a scene. "But also, improvisation can only work if you are telling your actor beforehand that, 'Hey, this is something I am going to do. Let's jam on this,'" he shared.

At the same time, the actor admitted that there are situations where actors keep the spontaneity natural without revealing every detail in advance. However, he believes the improvisation should always stay connected to the script and not distract from the scene.

"Sometimes you can just be like that, I am going to do this, but I can't tell you what I am going to do, but I am going to do something related to the script only. If you do improvisation within the script, then your co-actor will also understand, and your co-actor will also be able to support you in that," Suvansh explained.

The actor also recalled that some spontaneous moments from his shoots have actually been included in the final edit. Speaking about his experience on Fauji 2, Suvansh revealed that the director encouraged actors to perform freely during certain scenes.

"Yeah, there have been times when a spontaneous moment has made it to the final cut. When I was shooting for Fauji 2, there were scenes where I had to be very spontaneous. The director used to believe more in spontaneity and improvisation. So in that show, I have done improvisations a lot, because of my director's support," he said.

Still, Suvansh feels every project works differently. Some stories allow actors to experiment, while others require performers to follow the script exactly as written.

"But I think it depends on project to project. Where you have that space for improvisation, and somewhere you just have to stick to the script. So I think you should understand where you want to do the improvisation," the actor concluded.
