Devkhel EXCLUSIVE! Prajaktta Mali Reveals If Line Between Reality & Myth Was Blurred During Shoot
ZEE5 Devkhel release date: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, tighten up your seat belts as ZEE5 is all set to take the audience on a roller coaster ride filled with drama, emotions, thrill and excitement with the premiere of Devkhel. The original Marathi series starring Prajaktta Mali and Ankush Chaudhari promises to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.
In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat Chief Copy Editor Abhishek Ranjit, Prajaktta Mali opened up about her much-awaited series, revealing if the line between myth and reality was 'blurred' during the shoot. As the web show deals with the supernatural and mythology, the talented actress revealed her stance on the matter.
Here are excerpts from the interview-
"Was there a moment during the shoot of Devkhel when the line between myth and reality felt uncomfortably blurred for you?
For me personally, the line between reality and mythology didn't blur. I think that's because my character was not present during the ritual sequences, so I wasn't directly involved in shooting those portions. Also, when I know the script beforehand, I tend to imagine a lot. I had already visualised so much in my mind that when we were on set, I didn't experience anything beyond what I had already imagined.
"Where do you stand in the fight between science and mythology/history / supernatural powers / etc?
This is actually a very personal conflict for me as well. If we are performing a ritual, I want to understand why we are doing it. I look for logic and information behind it. Many times, even our parents or family members don't know the reason, so I turn to my mentors and teachers, who have studied these subjects in depth. Sometimes I get answers, and sometimes I don't. I am a believer, too. There are times when I may not immediately understand the logic, but if my family believes in it and it isn't harming anyone, I choose to follow it quietly. If we are simply praying with folded hands and bowed heads, and it causes no harm, I don't see a problem. Maybe at a certain age, you don't understand the meaning, but you might understand it later. That said, if something feels wrong or unjust, or if I strongly feel it shouldn't be happening, then I definitely question it and dig deeper.
Devkhel, which has been produced by Cine Masters Production Pvt Ltd and directed by Chandrakant Lata Gaikwad, will release on January 30 on ZEE5. It will be exclusively available for streaming on the leading OTT platform.
