Preeti Panigrahi, an emerging star in the Indian film industry, has garnered widespread attention for her exceptional debut in the critically acclaimed film Girls Will Be Girls on Amazon Prime. Hailing from Odisha, Preeti's inspiring journey from a small-town upbringing to the bustling film industry in Mumbai exemplifies passion, perseverance, and talent.

Preeti's artistic journey began during her school years when she was an all-rounder excelling in academics, arts, and leadership. She served as the head girl of her school and was recognized for her acting, dancing, singing, photography, and public speaking skills. Her early passion for creativity led her to join Bal Bhawan at NTPC Township, Noida. In 2015, Preeti was honoured with The National Balshree Honour by India's Ministry of HRD, making her the only child in her age group to receive the award that year.

After completing school, Preeti further refined her skills by participating in productions by NSD pass-outs and the prestigious Asmita Theatre Group, earning numerous Best Actor awards in theater. Following her graduation in 2022, she pursued a postgraduate diploma in Animation and Cinema from the renowned Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute.

Her breakthrough came when she was cast in the lead role of Girls Will Be Girls, a mother-daughter story set in a small Himalayan hill town. Written and directed by Shuchi Talati and produced by Richa Chadha and Claire Chassagne, the film explores themes of rebellion and female sexuality. Preeti's portrayal of a 16-year-old girl navigating her awakening with vulnerability, frankness, and charm won the hearts of audiences and critics alike.

Her performance earned her international acclaim, with the jury at the Sundance Film Festival praising her nuanced depiction. Preeti's debut role not only placed her on the global stage but also won her the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting at Sundance 2024. The film was one of only 16 selected worldwide for the festival's prestigious World Cinema Dramatic Competition.
