Her Approach Was Fresh: Urvashi Dholakia On Joining Ishika Shahi's Jabb Zodiacs Met
Urvashi Dholakia is part of Ishika Shahi's new web show, Jabb Zodiacs Met. Produced by Rajan Shahi under his banner Director's Kut Production, the series went live on their official YouTube channel on January 16. The actress revealed that she was swayed by Ishika's approach to storytelling.

She said, "The part that attracted me was that it was a very young team that first approached me. And Ishika. We've practically seen her grow up, and I think it was a package deal that was coming my way. First of all, Ishika is like a child, and as an elder, I want nothing but for her to succeed. It's always good to see the young ones succeed in their lives, have aspirations, and create new ideas. And I have always believed in moving with time."
"This young crowd also shows you ways, they show you things, and they make you learn things that you probably don't know or you're not aware of. You get to learn from them also. I think that was a starter. And the way she just explained everything to me, the storytelling appealed to me. Her approach was fresh," she added.
Urvashi mentioned that even the concept that revolved around zodiac signs built an instant connection. She calls it a universal conversation starter and says, "Even if someone's met for the first time, you ask, 'What's your Zodiac?' Though people may consider that as a very lame question, I think that's how it all begins. It's all about relatability."
Asked how she prepared for her role, she revealed that her approach was simple-stick to the script. She said, "I didn't do any extra preparation. What prepares an actor is how the script is written. I'm playing a Taurus woman, and it is not my star sign, but once I read the script, it was very clear as to what kind of character traits this person needs to perform. All I did was implement what Ishika had written. The director, Rishi Mandial, was really fun to be with on the sets. He was also quite a guide. So I think that's what prepares an actor. It all starts at the root level."
"Even if I do a normal show, the person who's narrating the script to me, if within one minute I can imagine myself doing that, I will do it. The power is in the narration and the script telling. That's how I look at it," she added.
Jabb Zodiacs Met is a 12-episode series. Sharing her thoughts on the future of limited and episodic series in India, she said, "It is the future for sure. Because the span of attention of people these days is like a bird. People like watching short things because nobody has got the time."
However, she was quick to mention that it is still very new. Urvashi said, "It's like at one point in time you had Doordarshan, then suddenly these privatized channels came in, and now we have OTTs and YouTube. I feel you have to grow with time. But it is the future."
