Khakee: The Bengal Chapter Star Mimoh Chakraborty: With Rise Of OTT Platforms, There’s So Much Room For...

Mimoh Chakraborty, who is currently seen playing the role of a police officer in Neeraj Pandey's Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, feels OTT has changed both content viewing and content creation. He further shared that it's not only an exciting time for directors and producers but also for actors.
He said, "With the rise of OTT platforms, there's so much room for experimentation. In the world of movies, we still love the big blockbusters like Animal, Gadar 2, or Pushpa 2. But OTT gives creators the freedom to explore new and unconventional stories. That's where you see series like Paatal Lok or Khakee: The Bengal Chapter come to life. These platforms bring out stories that might not have been possible in traditional cinema."
"For actors, it's an incredible time. We don't have to stick to one kind of role or genre. OTT allows us to try new characters and challenge ourselves. It's a beautiful opportunity, not just for established actors but also for aspiring talents. Every day, so many boys and girls like me audition, and now, with the growing number of platforms, they have a better chance to showcase their talent," he added.
He further shared that earlier there were mainly two avenues - films and television, but with OTT, a third door has opened, and that means more opportunities for everyone. He said, "I feel extremely lucky and grateful to have been part of a show that gave me the chance to express myself as an actor. It's a blessing, and I'm excited to see how the industry continues to grow."
He also mentioned that even though OTT has no box office, actors need validation to work hard and stay motivated. He said, "We actors are probably the most insecure people in the world. We constantly seek validation. It's that validation that drives us to work harder, stay motivated, and give our best performances. So, no, the pressure isn't reduced. At the end of the day, the audience is everything. They are the true heroes and stars of our lives. Without their support and love, we're nothing. So, their approval and validation mean the world to us."
"And if we're fortunate enough to receive that, it will be a blessing. Yes, the pressure is definitely there. But as they say, face what scares you with a smile, and it won't seem so frightening anymore. It's a mix of nervousness and excitement, and I'm just grateful to be experiencing it," he added.
Asked what kind of shows he has watched and liked on OTT, he said, "I think Khakee: The Bihar Chapter is definitely one of my favorites. I absolutely love that show. Then there's Paatal Lok, what a powerful and impactful series! I'm also a big fan of Panchayat. It's such a simple yet heartwarming show. And of course, The Family Man is on my list too."
"When it comes to English shows, I really enjoy action-packed series like Invincible, The Boys, and Jack Reacher. Recently, I also watched The Diplomat on Netflix, and I absolutely loved it. OTT platforms offer so much variety now. As I mentioned before, they've opened doors to all kinds of cinema, making space for different genres. Every show has its own unique style, and as a viewer, I get to experiment with what I feel like watching. One day I might prefer comedy, and the next day I might be in the mood for a thrilling drama. But if I had to choose one above all, it would be Khakee: The Bengal Chapter," he concluded.
