Loan Trap REVIEW: Karan Mehra's Micro-drama Delivers IMP Message On Cyber Crime. But Is It Worth Watching?

Loan Trap review: It's difficult to imagine life without online mobile applications like GPay, PhonePe, and BHIM. I have talked to multiple people, who told me that they have stopped carrying cash while going out. They are instead relying only on UPI apps to make their payments. While UPI has revolutionised the digital payment system in India, it has also paved way for internet financial fraud.

Sunaina Devi, a 27-year-old woman, wanted to buy a birthday gift for her husband, but she became entangled in a web of cybercrime and shame.

What We Liked About Loan Trap?

At a time when micro-dramas are heavily skewed towards romance and action, Loan Trap comes off as a breath of fresh air as it tackles the concept of cybercrime, cyber blackmail and financial fraud in India.

The execution in terms of screenplay and plot is the cherry on the cake. The scene where Sunaina attempts to commit suicide is engaging, keeping you hooked on to the screen.

Karan Mehra, known for his work in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, stole the limelight with his performance. His screen presence is top-notch, proving why he is so popular among the masses.

I also loved the message that the micro-drama delivered- victim blaming is not a solution, it will only give wings to the actions of fraudsters.

What We Didn't Like About Loan Trap?

While the initial episodes are engaging, the makers dragged a few scenes in the latter half of the micro-drama. Barring Karan Mehra, the other actors didn't look convincing on camera. The editing could be better as it micro-dramas are fast-paced, and there's no room for 'boring' stuff.

Is Loan Trap worth watching? If you want a micro-drama that offers something new on the platter, we recommend streaming it.

Loan Trap is available for streaming on TukTuki app.
