This decision by JioHotstar's senior leadership follows allegations of inappropriate remarks made by the actor during a media event at JW Marriott in Juhu on June 19. The comments were deemed sexually inappropriate and unprofessional.

Eyewitness Accounts of the Incident

According to Midday, witnesses reported that Ram made repeated comments with sexual undertones while seated with co-star Mona Singh and JioHotstar executives. A JioHotstar insider revealed, "He had back-to-back interviews that day. Referring to the work pressure at one point, he said he feels 'gang-raped'. This remark was made while one journalist was setting up her mic."

The journalist present reportedly confirmed the incident. As the day went on, Ram reportedly continued making inappropriate comments to both media personnel and JioHotstar staff. One executive shared, "He looked at my colleague's dress and referring to its length, said, 'The clothes are distracting'."

Further Offensive Remarks

The situation escalated as Ram allegedly made more offensive remarks throughout the day. Another executive recounted, "It didn't hit immediately, but when it did later that evening, we started recounting the number of offensive things he said. He told one of our male colleagues that his mother should have faked a headache and he shouldn't have been born. He made references to sex positions."

JioHotstar's Response

On June 20, the issue was brought to JioHotstar's senior leadership and HR department. After internal discussions and confirmation from multiple eyewitnesses, they decided to exclude Ram from further promotional events for "Mistry." A company source stated, "This workplace prioritises dignity and safety. After a complaint was formally raised and the incidents corroborated by eyewitnesses, the leadership moved promptly."

Mona Singh Takes Over Promotions

In light of these events, Mona Singh will now handle all ongoing interviews and promotional appearances for "Mistry." She stars alongside Ram as the lead actress in the series. Additionally, JioHotstar has expedited internal training sessions on gender sensitivity and workplace conduct to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As of now, Ram Kapoor has not publicly responded to these allegations or his removal from promotional activities.
