Sangmarmar- Ayushi Doegar On Working With TV's Iconic Krishna Aka Saurabh Jain: I Grew Up Watching Him On TV

Ayushi Doegar discusses her collaboration with Saurabh Jain, the impact of his grounded on-set conduct, and how theatre and dance training shaped her approach to the Mumbai acting scene.

Actor Ayushi Doegar has spoken about sharing screen space with Saurabh Jain, known for playing Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva on television. The young performer, who grew up watching Saurabh Jain’s work, describes collaborating with the senior actor as a special milestone while Ayushi continues to build a career in Mumbai’s entertainment industry.

Ayushi recalls feeling almost stunned when she realised she would work alongside Saurabh Jain, whose mythological roles she followed for years. “I remember watching him on television while growing up. His portrayal of mythological characters had a certain calmness and grace. So when I found myself sharing the same workspace with him, it honestly felt very special,” Ayushi says.

For Ayushi, Saurabh Jain’s behaviour on set left an even deeper impact than his fame. Ayushi notes that the senior actor stayed away from any display of attitude and remained focused. “What really stood out for me was how grounded he is. There is no ego or unnecessary drama around him. He is very focused on his work and respectful to everyone on set. As a young actor, you learn a lot just by observing that.”

Ayushi’s journey into acting began in Chandigarh, where Ayushi discovered a love for performance through theatre productions. The stage work encouraged Ayushi to shift to Mumbai and try professional acting. “Theatre helped me understand the power of storytelling. Performing live in front of an audience makes you realise how deeply stories can connect with people,” Ayushi shares, crediting theatre for shaping early discipline.

Alongside theatre, Ayushi trained in dance under choreographer Shiamak Davar. The dance training improved timing, expression and confidence, which Ayushi now applies to screen work. Long rehearsal hours and stage shows with the dance company also gave Ayushi early exposure to professional environments similar to television and OTT sets.

Ayushi has since appeared in Rajshri Productions’ OTT series Sangmarmar on JioHotstar. In the show, Ayushi plays Nisha, a lawyer who also serves as the supportive best friend of lead character Amrita. The part allowed Ayushi to explore a mix of strength and sensitivity while portraying a dependable figure within the narrative.

Looking ahead, Ayushi hopes to build on experiences like working with Saurabh Jain and projects such as Sangmarmar. The aim is to grow steadily while choosing roles that touch viewers. “I want to keep learning and doing meaningful work. If people remember the characters I play and feel something through them, that would mean everything to me.”
