We spoke with one of the contestants of Shark Tank India Season 4, Paurav Rastogi, co-founder of Speed Kitchen, and he gave us some eye-opening insights into what really happens behind the scenes.
Shark Tank India Exclusive: How Does Contestant Build A 30 Mins Speech?
We had the pleasure of talking with one of the founders of Speed Kitchen, a dynamic hub for cloud kitchens, Paurav Rastogi. Paurav shared with us the entire behind-the-scenes journey on Shark Tank that takes place even before the actual episode comes out and revealed some exclusive information. Here's what he shared:
What Actually Happens Before You Come To Pitch Your Business Idea To Sharks?
Paurav called Shark Tank India's selection process to be very "organic." He went on to share, "We filled a form, that's how it started. We filled a for that we got from LinkedIn or other network...then we received a message that you have been shortlisted and you have to follow these certain steps." The steps included several explanations about their company and business along with a video where they are pitching their idea to the Sharks.
Audition Part
Paurav said, "For that, they called us to Mumbai. The audition was taken by their entire business team, the creative team, the entire Shark Tank team (the backend)."
What Happens After The Audition?
Speed Kitchen co-founder revealed that the backend team really liked their pitch. So after that "they gave us another form, which we have to fill, based on the basis of that we got selected for Shark Tank." Paurav called the entire process to be "structured and organic."
How Does Shark Tank Pitch Help The Contestant?
Paurav said, "The entire drill that I had with the entire Shark Tank team, that actually helped me build, that 30 mins pitch that you guys have seen, and expressing my business acumen."
Founded by childhood friends Paurav Rastogi and Shamin Kapoor, Speed Kitchen (based in New Delhi) was born out of a shared vision to simplify the challenges faced by food entrepreneurs. Speed Kitchen operates as a dynamic hub for cloud kitchens, offering food entrepreneurs a flexible, cost-effective way to enter the market. The duo pitched for ₹2 crore in exchange for 3% equity, and after a series of intense negotiations, Speed Kitchen secured the deal of a lifetime. Sharks Ritesh Agarwal, Azhar Iqubal, and Kunal Bahl collectively agreed to invest ₹2 crore for a 6% equity stake, recognizing the immense potential and scalability of the business.
