Last month, Neeraj Pandey, Kay Kay Menon and Vinay Pathak arrived in Delhi in style to promote their web series Special OPS 2. From talking about the premise to sharing anecdotes from the sets, the trio had a blast as they interacted with Filmibeat.

The captain of the ship- Mr. Pandey revealed why the second season was delayed despite the project being ready for release.

"Special OPS season 2 will feature a total of seven episodes that will be loaded with entertainment. The episodes are edgier, bolder and entertaining in the new season. Special OPS 2 was slated to premiere early; however, the network delayed it due to IPL 2025. As JioHotstar wanted to release the season at the right time, we waited for some time," he stated.

Neeraj Pandey, while interacting with Filmibeat, quipped, "JioHotstar has not notified us about the third season, but we hope to take things a notch higher in the new installment, whenever it is made. I hope the audience will love our work , as the entire team has given 100 percent to the project."

When asked if there would be a big gap in the release between season two and three, the filmmaker said, "it won't be the case."

While Neeraj Pandey didn't divulge much information about Special OPS season 3, Filmibeat has learnt that a third installment (technically fourth) is on the cards.

"Criminal Justice season 5 and Special OPS 3 are definitely in the pipeline. The work on the respective projects are expected to commence from next week. This year, the network has shows like Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar 2, Taaza Khabar 3, which will go under pre-production," our khabri said.

"If things go as planned, the next season might premiere in the second half of 2026. It's too early to predict anything at the moment," the source added.
