The Old Guard 2 OTT Release Date: When And Where To Watch Charlize Theron’s Superhero Movie Sequel

The Old Guard 2 OTT Release: Netflix is bringing back its immortal mercenaries with The Old Guard 2, starring Charlize Theron, set to premiere exclusively on the platform on July 2, 2025. According to Netflix's Tudum, fans of The Old Guard can expect an expanded world and new characters joining the battle in the sequel.
Reuniting the Immortals
In The Old Guard 2, viewers will witness a tense reunion between Theron's character, Andromache of Scythia (known as Andy), and the long-suffering immortal Quynh (played by Veronica Van, formerly Veronica Ngô). After enduring 500 years of repeated drowning inside a submerged iron maiden, Quynh resurfaces-driven by emotion and intent-to confront Andy. The friction between them sets a dramatic tone early in the film.
According to Tudum, director Victoria Mahoney revealed that the film's production deliberately sought out unconventional locations, avoiding familiar visual clichés. She also noted that the sequel features larger, more immersive stunts. Mahoney, whose previous work includes The Morning Show and Yelling to the Sky, was drawn to the franchise by its combination of emotional complexity and action-driven storytelling.
The Old Guard 2 Storyline
The sequel picks up with Andy (Charlize Theron) and her group of immortal warriors, who return with a renewed mission to safeguard humanity. As Andy faces the reality of having lost her immortality, she must also confront a growing threat that endangers everything the team has protected over the centuries. Meanwhile, Quynh (Veronica Van), once a close ally, reemerges after centuries of torture, driven by vengeance. With Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) still in exile following his betrayal, the remaining members-Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), and Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor)-turn to an old acquaintance, Tuah (Henry Golding), in hopes of uncovering answers about the origins of their immortality.
Directed by Victoria Mahoney and adapted from the graphic novels by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, the sequel builds on the events of the first film while expanding the mythology. As the characters wrestle with questions of mortality, purpose, and loyalty, The Old Guard 2 explores the emotional and moral weight of eternal life-this time with even higher personal and physical stakes.
Cast and Characters
Most of the original cast returns in the sequel, joined by new characters that expand the universe. Charlize Theron reprises her role as Andromache of Scythia, now grappling with the loss of her immortality. KiKi Layne returns as Nile, the newest member of the team, still adjusting to her powers and her place within the group since joining. Matthias Schoenaerts plays Booker, Andy's former confidant who remains in exile. Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli are back as Joe and Nicky, longtime partners and fellow immortals whose bond continues to anchor the team. Veronica Van, formerly known as Veronica Ngô, portrays Quynh, who resurfaces after centuries of isolation, setting the stage for renewed conflict. Joining the cast are Henry Golding as Tuah, a figure tied to the lore of immortality, and Uma Thurman as Discord, an enigmatic character with unclear motives. Chiwetel Ejiofor also returns as Copley, now closely aligned with the group despite being mortal himself.
