The Royals Review: Netflix's Rom-Com With Ishaan-Bhumi Redefines Royalty, Is Perfect For Weekend Binge Watch

The Royals review: We all have imagined living in a palace like a king or queen, enjoying the perks of being a part of a royal family, haven't we? Netflix has conceptualized a crispy idea, turning it into a dreamy project, where royalty and elegance meet sass and swag. With its latest presentation The Royals, the leading OTT platform has amalgamated dreams with royalty and modern-day romance.
Imagine getting to live with the Royal Family in their lavish palace. What an experience it would be! Adding a new twist to the tale, Netflix introduced a modern-day rom-com loaded with drama, passion, emotions, and entertainment, showcasing what happens when a Royal Family engages in a business deal after their fortunes take a hit.
In case you're looking for an easy-breezy web series to watch with your beloved, The Royals is perfect for binge-watching. At a time when action thrillers and rural-based dramas are ruling the roost, Ishaan Khatter-Bhumi Pednekar's web series comes as a breath of fresh air. After all, who doesn't want to watch something endearing and entertaining without investing too much?
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE WEB SERIES?
When we talk about royalty, the first thing that comes to our mind is the grandeur and lavish lifestyle of the Maharajas and Maharanis. Netflix and Pritish Nandy have ensured that they take things a notch higher when it comes to the visual presentation of the series. The makers have shot in the picturesque locations of Jaipur while creating the city of Morpur, transporting us into the magical world of royalty.
I love well-arched characters who don't shy away from taking risks. Bhumi Pednekar's character Sophia Shekhar might not be perfect, but she is relatable. She is bold, confident, determined and willing to take a risk. There's a proper flow to the storyline when it comes to her character taking the charge and colliding with Ishaan Khatter (Aviraaj Singh).
THE ROYALS ACTING REVIEW: ZEENAT AMAN PLEASE TAKE A BOW
It's a crime if you haven't watched Zeenat Aman in a film yet. The DIVA proved why she is one. Be it her effortless charm or unmatchable swag, she commanded attention in every frame. Even when the dialogues were not up to the mark, she managed to leave a remarkable impact with her presence.
My personal favourite Sakshi Tanwar wooed us with her hatke role. Give her any role and she will nail it with perfection. Her power-packed performance will grab eyeballs as she exudes grace and elegance, adding her own touch of comedy.
Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar's crackling chemistry will definitely make you say 'UFF, kya baat hai!' The two stars have created magic with their on-screen tashan, romance as their characters clashed with each other. Chemistry is the key for any successful rom-com and they have nailed it with their performances. Barring a few moments, the duo was always in sync with their characters.
THE ROYALS STORY REVIEW
What do you expect to happen when a Royal family decides to engage in a business deal with a CEO with a never-say-never attitude? There will be chaos, sparks and oodles of drama, isn't it?
All that glitters is not gold. Morpur's Royal family doesn't boast of riches of their own as their patriarch left them with a massive debt. Here comes the main twist. Sophia, who has to complete the assignment within six months to prove herself, turns out to be the lady in shiny armour for the 'Royals'.
Despite her differences with Adhiraj, she manages to turn things in her favour using her wit and positive attitude. While they continue to clash, they are still drawn to each other. The storyline (two opposites collide and yet attract) might seem predictable but the pacing is smooth.
The added layers in the storyline, where Adhiraj and Sophia survive the chaos and challenges are a cherry on the cake.
The Royals is a modern-day love story where the makers have successfully integrated Indian royalty and old-world charm with romance and humour.
