Web Series 2026: is Bharti Jha's New Show Releasing On OTT After Government Ban On Certain OTT Platforms?

New Web Series 2026: The government’s decision to block 20 OTT platforms for obscene content has reshaped India’s streaming space. Among the affected apps is Ullu, which earlier hosted several web series.

"The Ministry of Broadcasting and Information decided to ban 20 OTT platforms for objectionable and obscene content. OTT platforms like Ullu received flak for promoting vulgarity in society with obscene scenes in their web series. After the ban, Ullu app has removed all its content from its official website and deleted all the posts from Instagram. The makers have remained underground amid the legal restrictions following the ban," a reliable industry source earlier told Filmibeat.

OTT platforms face tighter scrutiny after Government Ban On Ullu

The crackdown directly hit several titles that streamed on Ullu, including a Bharti Jha web series slate. Shows such as Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Happy Ending, Palang Tod and Charam Sukh disappeared from the platform. Complaints had earlier surfaced after a bold scene from House Arrest spread widely online, drawing criticism about vulgarity and explicit storytelling on OTT platforms.

"The web series like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Happy Ending, Tu Dekh Meri Photo that have released online on Ullu and other such platforms have pulled from the website and app. A few of them are available on Dailymotion, but they will also be removed from the video-sharing platform. The web series featuring Natasha Rajeshwari, Malvika Tomar and other actresses that have not premiered yet will continue to remain unreleased," the source further added.

Streaming had been on a sharp rise even before the ban touched any Bharti Jha web series. In 2019, many believed OTT platforms would never rival satellite television in Indian homes. Since then, services like Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5 and SonyLIV have turned into everyday entertainment choices, often placed alongside cable connections and cinema visits.

Hindi web series performance on OTT platforms remained strong over the past year, separate from the Bharti Jha web series list. Panchayat 4, Criminal Justice season 4, Special OPs 2 and Rana Naidu season 2 held steady attention. The Family Man season 3 drew wide online debate and received warm reviews from critics and social media users across the country.

Show Season Platform mentioned
Panchayat 4 Prime Video
Criminal Justice 4 JioHotstar
Special OPs 2 JioHotstar
Rana Naidu 2 Netflix
The Family Man 3 Prime Video

These popular series helped OTT platforms penetrate smaller Indian towns, even where a Bharti Jha web series has limited reach. However, the same growth period also brought sharper criticism about nudity and explicit storylines. That debate eventually fed into complaints before authorities, which then examined how platforms moderated scenes and dialogues for Indian viewers.

Is Bharti Jha New Web Series 2026 On The Cards?

Amid this regulatory churn, fans of Bharti Jha want clarity on new projects. A reliable industry insider shared an update with Filmibeat regarding ongoing talks. According to the source, Bharti Jha is weighing offers from several producers for fresh OTT work while keeping options open due to the current uncertain climate.

The source exclusively told the portal, "Bharti Jha is in talks with a few production houses for upcoming OTT shows. However, nothing has been finalised as of now. The actress is known for her bold roles in web series, and she has been offered projects, but she has not confirmed signing any of them as of now." Bharti Jha last appeared in Happy Ending Part 2 before these new content restrictions.

OTT platforms now walk a narrow line between audience demand for bold plots and tighter rules. While Bharti Jha’s next digital role is still pending, Instagram reels from Bharti Jha keep drawing regular interest from followers.
