During the exclusive chat, he also revealed his favourite Yo Yo Honey Singh song. Read on...
1) During the making of this docu-film, was there any unknown fact about Yo Yo Honey Singh which took you by surprise and you wanted everyone to know that about him?
There were big and small things. I wanted everyone to know about his mental health journey. He is so deep and philosophical... and people don't know that about him. In a way he's always been viewed as a popstar singing about girls, partying and fast cars but there is a lot more depth to him as well. I wanted everyone to know how strong and deep connection he has with his family and that is one of the most beautiful things of this documentary. There were all things little things that I wanted the word to see because when I saw them I was like 'wow'!
2) Which one is your favourite Yo Yo Honey Singh song?
It's very difficult but if I really had to pick one I think it would be Blue Eyes. There are so many songs of him that I love but I think the OG love of mine is Blue Eyes.
3) Do your think that this is Yo Yo Honey Singh 2.0 as he is now back with a bang post his mental health battle?
I feel it is. This film is definitely a part of the phase and even the music that he is doing right now, how self-assured, amazing person he is... he is back in the game and all of them are part of this new journey. I was in Delhi when the AP Dhillon concert happened and AP had invited Honey Singh as a surprise special guest. It was crazy to even experience the hysteria that he still creates. I am very happy for him.
4) You are a writer, director, producer.... which one do you enjoy the most?
Directing! I love shooting and being on set. When I am directing I think I am at my most creative because it's such an all-consuming task to be a director. You have to bring all elements together and make sure the moment or the scene is perfect. Everything has to come together at that perfect moment for the scene to work and the director is the one who is orchestrating it all.
