However, the day his former wife Reena Dutta moved out with their children marked a significant emotional turning point. Left alone, he struggled to cope with the sudden change in his personal life.
What began as a moment of vulnerability soon turned into a prolonged phase. Aamir admitted that he started drinking that very night and continued for nearly one and a half years. At his lowest, he was consuming almost an entire bottle daily–something he described as an extreme shift from his earlier lifestyle.
The actor has previously acknowledged that his separation from Reena Dutta, after 16 years of marriage, was not easy for either of them. Despite the emotional turmoil, he has maintained that their relationship continued to be rooted in mutual respect, even after parting ways.
Following his divorce, Aamir went on to marry filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, and the two later separated in 2021 while continuing to co-parent their son. Today, he shares a cordial relationship with both his former partners and has moved forward in life with a sense of acceptance.
