However, an insider told NDTV and Variety India that these claims are “completely baseless.” The source added that both have been in continuous discussions and have locked the script, confirming steady progress.
Pralay is being mounted as a ₹300 crore VFX-heavy action thriller, making it one of the most ambitious Bollywood projects in recent years. Set in a post-apocalyptic Mumbai, the film will explore the zombie genre on an unprecedented scale, reportedly using AI-powered visuals.
Directed by Jai Mehta, who previously co-directed Scam 1992 and Lootere, the film marks his feature debut. Co-written with Vishal Kapoor, Pralay is backed by Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films, Ranveer Singh’s Maa Kasam Films, and Applause Entertainment. Hansal Mehta has clarified that the story is original and not adapted from any novel.
Following the global success of the Dhurandhar franchise, Ranveer Singh is preparing for a complete transformation. Reports suggest he will adopt a never-seen-before look and is fully focused on Pralay, with no other confirmed projects currently in production.
