The Razor-to-Neck Scare

During the show, Sanjay recalled a moment that could have turned deadly. With his beard grown long, the jail superintendent assigned a fellow prisoner named Mishra to shave him. While casually chatting, Sanjay asked how long Mishra had been behind bars. The prisoner, with a razor already grazing Sanjay’s neck, calmly replied–“15 years, for double murder.”

A shocked Dutt immediately grabbed his hand. “Imagine, a double murder convict with a razor at your throat–that’s just an ordinary day in jail,” he said, sending chills through the audience.

Finding Purpose in Prison

Despite the grim surroundings, Sanjay Dutt tried to make his time meaningful. He shared how he started a radio station inside Yerwada Jail called Radio YCP, where he hosted shows with scripts written by fellow inmates. He also made furniture and paper bags as part of prison labor, earning wages for his work.

A Life Without Regrets–Except One

Reflecting on his journey, Sanjay admitted he doesn’t regret the mistakes and challenges that shaped his life. But one wound remains unhealed–the loss of his parents too early. His mother, legendary actress Nargis Dutt, passed away in 1981, days before his Bollywood debut Rocky. His father, veteran actor Sunil Dutt, died in 2005. “The only regret I carry is that my parents left me too soon. I miss them every single day,” Sanjay confessed with emotion.

The 1993 Case and Sentence

Sanjay Dutt’s prison term stemmed from the 1993 Mumbai bombings case, where he was convicted for illegal possession of firearms. Though he insisted the weapons were for his family’s protection during riots, the court sentenced him to five years in jail. From 2013 to 2016, he served time at Pune’s Yerwada Jail, where he earned remission for good behavior and contributions to inmate welfare.

Back on the Big Screen

Post his release, Sanjay has been steadily working in films. Recently, he appeared in Baaghi 4 alongside Tiger Shroff, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu.
