In a sea of large dresses and bigger jewelry, desi girl Sara Ali Khan stood out on the Cannes red carpet for the first time. On Tuesday, Sara Ali Khan made her big Cannes debut, walking the red carpet in a lehenga and proudly displaying her "desi" heritage. Sara played muse to fashion designer Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for her Cannes red carpet debut, selecting a gorgeous lehenga from the designer's collection. Sara chose a traditional outfit for Cannes and embraced her ethnic side, which was draped by Dolly Jain.

Sara wore a pastel blouse with silver embroidery and a plunging neckline. She paired it with a long and flowing skirt with ethnic designs in white throughout.

Sara finished her outfit with a similar dupatta on her shoulders that was connected to her hair bun and included white embellishments and tulle around the edges.

Sara completed her daytime outfit with similar striking silver earrings with yellow embedded stones. She finished her ensemble with a diamond bracelet on one hand.

Sara wore little makeup and let her ethnic attire do the talking, with help from makeup artist Tanvi Chemburkar. Nude eyeshadow, black eyeliner, black kohl, mascara-filled eyelashes, contoured cheeks, and a nude lipstick color Sara looked stunning as she walked the red carpet.
