Another great loss to the Kollywood film industry as veteran comedy actor and director Manobala passed away at the age of 69. The actor has featured in almost 450 films and was loved for his unique comic roles. This news is a huge shock to not just his fans but also the whole Tamil film fraternity.

Reportedly the actor was going through a treatment related to his liver for the past two weeks at his Chennai residence. He took list last breath on May 3. His mortal remains will be placed at his residence in LV Prasad Road, Saligramam in Chennai.

Manobala had a four-decade-old career and he made a name for himself in several language films like Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

He debuted as an assistant director alongside director Bharathiraaja in Puthiya Vaarpungal.

The actor appeared in almost 200 films and has also directed 24 of them. His most well-known film is Oorkavalan (1987), starring Rajinikanth, Pillai Nilla (1985), starring Mohan. And En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan (1989), starring Vijayakanth.

Some of his notable acting features include Ghajini, Abhiyum Naanum, Thupakki, and others.

His passing news was shared by actor-director GM Kumar on twitter in which he wrote “Manobala Sir passed away”

The actor is now survived by wife Usha and son Harish.
