Pongal 2024 Tamil Releases: Thai Pongal, also known as Pongal, is a multi-day Hindu harvest festival observed by the Tamil community. The upcoming Pongal is from Monday, January 15, 2024, to Thursday, January 18, 2024.

The 2024 Pongal celebration promises a star-studded lineup of Tamil film releases, delivering high excitement to movie enthusiasts. The eagerly awaited films include Captain Miller featuring Dhanush, Ayalaan starring Sivakarthikeyan, Lal Salaam starring Superstar Rajinikanth, and Merry Christmas starring Vijay Sethupathi. The anticipation is at its peak as Pongal releases bring a blend of action, entertainment, and star power, making it a thrilling season for cinema lovers!

Captain Miller

Captain Miller, an impending period action-adventure movie scripted and helmed by Arun Matheswaran, is produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under Sathya Jyothi Films. The film features Dhanush in the lead, supported by a talented ensemble including Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, John Kokken, and Edward Sonnenblick.

The script was penned by Matheswaran back in 2018, with initial plans for production by Sathya Jyothi Films. However, the project remained in a tentative state until 2019, when it began to take shape. Initially known as D47, signifying Dhanush's 47th lead role, the film was officially announced in July 2022. Principal photography commenced that September across Chennai, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi. G. V. Prakash Kumar handles the music composition, Siddhartha Nuni manages the cinematography, and Nagooran Ramachandran takes charge of editing.

Captain Miller is set for a global release in January 2024, aligning with the Pongal festival.

Ayalaan

Sivakarthikeyan is set to return to the big screen with the highly anticipated alien sci-fi movie, 'Ayalaan.' After several delays, the film is now scheduled for a Pongal 2024 release.

The post-production work for 'Ayalaan' is progressing rapidly. This science fiction drama reportedly includes over 1000 VFX frames, with a central comic alien character.

Directed by Ravikumar, 'Ayalaan' stars Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles, with a talented supporting cast including Sharad Kelkar, Isha Koppikar, Bhanupriya, Yogi Babu, Karunakaran, Bala Saravanan, and more.

The film is a joint production by KJR Studios and 24 AM Studios and boasts a musical score by the legendary AR Rahman, cinematography handled by Nirav Shah, and editing executed by Ruben. 'Ayalaan' is set to hit screens in multiple languages, making it accessible to a diverse audience given its broad appeal as a science fiction drama.

Lal Salaam

"Lal Salaam" is a forthcoming Tamil sports drama movie penned and helmed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. This marks Aishwarya Rajinikanth's directorial project following her work on "3," starring Dhanush, and "Vai Raja Vai," featuring Gautham Karthik.

Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah for Lyca Productions, the movie features Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the primary roles. Additionally, Rajinikanth makes an extended cameo appearance in the film, portraying the character of Moideen Bhai.

The film features a cast that includes Vishnu Vishal as Thirunavukarasu "Thiru," Vikranth, and cameo appearances by Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai (in an extended role), Nirosha as Moideen's wife, Jeevitha Rajashekar as Moideen's sister, and Kapil Dev as himself. A. R. Rahman, in his first collaboration with Aishwarya, Vishnu, and Vikranth, composed the music and background score. Vishnu Rangasamy was responsible for cinematography, while B. Pravin Baaskar handled the editing.

The film's crew has confirmed the release date and is actively engaged in its preparations. Lal Salaam is set for a theatrical debut in January 2024, coinciding with the festive occasion of Pongal.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, an Indian thriller, is helmed by Sriram Raghavan, who co-authored the script with Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, and Anukriti Pandey. Produced by Ramesh Turani, Jaya Turani, Sanjay Routray, and Gewal Garg under Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures, the movie features Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil, it promises an intriguing tale.

The movie's announcement came in December 2021, coinciding with the revelation of its title. Filming began that month in Mumbai, concluding in January 2023. Pritam is in charge of the music, with Daniel B. George, Madhu Neelakandan, and Pooja Ladha Surti handling the background score, cinematography, and editing, respectively. Initially planned solely in Hindi, Raghavan disclosed in August 2023 that they were also making the film in Tamil. Merry Christmas is set for release on January 12, 2024.
