Dhanya Balakrishna Addresses Alleged Remarks On Tamil People

Dhanya Balakrishna Addresses Alleged Remarks about Tamil People Ahead of 'Lal Salaam' Release: Dhanya Balakrishna, who portrays a significant character in Aishwarya Rajinikanth's 'Lal Salaam,' faced criticism for her alleged old remarks about Tamil people. Prior to the film's release, Dhanya issued a statement denying the alleged comments, expressing regret for any offence caused, and extending apologies to Rajinikanth, Aishwarya, and Rajinikanth's fans. 'Lal Salaam' is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on February 9.

In 2012, following Chennai Super Kings' qualification for the IPL (Indian Premier League), Dhanya allegedly made derogatory remarks about Tamil people in a Facebook post. In the said post, she accused people from Chennai of relying on Bengaluru for water and electricity and criticised them for littering the city during their visits.

With this comment resurfacing prior to the release of 'Lal Salaam,' she has clarified that the post was fabricated. Her statement affirmed, "I swear on my profession that puts food on my table that the statement that the statement that is circulating now was not made by me and it is not my opinion. I had clarified it 12 years ago when it happened and I am saying it even today. It was a screenshot created by a troll. But I have nothing in my power to prove to you all that it was not me."

Additionally, she mentioned that she refrained from addressing this matter earlier because she received a lot of threats and hate towards her and her family, and she was trying to protect them. She extended her apologies to Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, and Rajinikanth's fans for any discomfort and distress caused.

Controversy Surrounding Dhanya Balakrishna's Alleged Remarks Sparks Concern Before 'Lal Salaam' Release

In the meantime, an activist named RTI Selvam has filed a complaint with the police, expressing concern that Dhanya's previous statement could potentially incite law and order issues in Tamil Nadu. Consequently, he urged the police not to permit the release of 'Lal Salaam' in Tamil Nadu. Selvam's complaint also called for legal action against Aishwarya and the 'Lal Salaam' team for their support of Dhanya.

Aishwarya Rajinikanth directs 'Lal Salaam,' a sports drama starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth and featuring an extended cameo appearance by superstar Rajinikanth, with a screenplay penned by Vishnu Rangasamy and Aishwarya herself. Produced by Lyca Productions, the film features a supporting cast comprising Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar, Thambi Ramaiah, Nirosha, and others.

Red Giant Movies handles the distribution of 'Lal Salaam,' featuring music by AR Rahman. The film's technical team includes cinematographer Vishnu Rangasamy and editor B. Pravin Baaskar.
