Initially known as D47, signifying Dhanush's 47th lead role, the film was officially announced in July 2022. Principal photography commenced that September across Chennai, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi.

The ensemble cast of 'Captain Miller' features Dhanush in the role of Captain Miller/Eesa/Analeesan, joined by Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Arul Mohan, John Kokken, Edward Sonnenblick, Nivedhithaa Sathish, Vinoth Kishan, Nassar, Alexx O'Nell, Elango Kumaravel, Viji Chandrasekhar, "Merku Thodarchi Malai" Antony, Bala Saravanan, Swayam Siddha, Sumesh Moor, and Amir Ali Shaik.

G. V. Prakash Kumar handles the music composition, Siddhartha Nuni manages the cinematography, and Nagooran Ramachandran takes charge of editing.
