Lal Salaam OTT Release: Extended Director's Cut To Debut With New Footage And Rescoring By A. R. Rahman

Lal Salaam OTT Release: "Lal Salaam" is a Tamil sports drama directed and written by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, who returns to directing after her previous projects, "3" with Dhanush and "Vai Raja Vai," featuring Gautham Karthik. The film premiered in theaters on February 9th.
Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah for Lyca Productions, "Lal Salaam" stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in leading roles, with Rajinikanth making a notable extended cameo as Moideen Bhai. The teaser for the film was revealed on Diwali (November 12, 2023), much to the delight of Rajinikanth's fans.
In October 2022, rumors surfaced about Aishwarya Rajinikanth directing a film starring Atharvaa and featuring Rajinikanth in an extended cameo. By November, Aishwarya confirmed her next directorial venture, "Lal Salaam," which features Vishnu Vishal as a cricketer and Vikranth in key roles, alongside Rajinikanth in a cameo appearance. The film also includes a special appearance by former cricketer Kapil Dev.
Following the film's announcement in November 2022, production began in March 2023 and concluded in August 2023, with shoots taking place in Mumbai, Chennai, Puducherry, Tiruvannamalai, and other locations.
The first single from "Lal Salaam," titled "Ther Thiruvizha," was released on December 18, 2023. The audio launch occurred at Sri Sairam Institute of Technology on January 26, 2024, and the movie's trailer was unveiled on February 5th, generating significant excitement among fans.

According to the latest update, an extended director's cut of "Lal Salaam" will soon be available on OTT platforms, offering a distinct experience from the theatrical version. This new cut includes previously lost footage that has been restored, providing fresh insights and additional content for viewers. Notably, acclaimed composer A.R. Rahman has re-scored the extended cut at no charge, further enhancing the film's audio-visual appeal. In a recent interview, Aishwarya Rajinikanth highlighted these exciting developments, emphasizing the significant changes and improvements made in this version. Fans of the film can look forward to a revamped cinematic experience with this exclusive release.
Lal Salaam Cast and Crew
The cast of "Lal Salaam" features a diverse ensemble of actors. Rajinikanth stars as D. G. Mohideen (Mohideen Bhai), a pivotal character who is Shamsuddin's father and Manickam's friend. Vishnu Vishal plays Thirunavukarasu, the son of Manickam and Rani, while Vikranth portrays Shamsuddin, Mohideen, and Fathima's son. Livingston takes on the role of Manickam, Thirunavukarasu's father and Mohideen's friend. Senthil appears as Samikkannu, and Jeevitha plays Rani, Thirunavukarasu's mother. K. S. Ravikumar is featured as Ra. Sathyamoorthy, with Thambi Ramaiah as Kathirvelan, Thirunavukarasu's uncle. Nirosha plays Fathima, Mohideen's wife and Shamsuddin's mother. Ananthika Sanilkumar stars as Nandhini, Thirunavukarasu's love interest, while Vivek Prasanna and Dhanya Balakrishna play Raji and his wife Ammani, respectively. The cast also includes Thangadurai, Akash Sahani, Poster Nandakumar, Adithya Menon, Pondy Ravi, and Amit Tiwari. Kapil Dev makes a special cameo appearance as himself.
A. R. Rahman composed the music and background score for the film, marking his first collaboration with Aishwarya, Vishnu, and Vikranth. Cinematography was managed by Vishnu Rangasamy, and B. Pravin Baaskar was in charge of the editing.
