Directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, the film pays tribute to the late actor and politician Vijayakanth. Dinesh's character, a devoted fan of Vijayakanth, evokes nostalgia with numerous nods to the iconic figure throughout the film.

As per official announcement, the Tamil sports drama "Lubber Pandhu" is expected to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on October 31. The streaming platform has acquired the post-theatrical rights to the film, which debuted in theaters in September. Although an official confirmation is yet to be made, fans are eagerly anticipating its digital release after the film's successful box office run.

"Lubber Pandhu" centers on Anbu, a skilled cricketer who confronts caste-based discrimination while chasing his dreams on the street cricket scene. Amidst love, rivalry, and personal growth, he faces off against Gethu, a former star player. Along the way, Anbu discovers that real triumph comes through unity and inclusivity.

The cast of "Lubber Pandhu" features a skilled ensemble led by Harish Kalyan as Anbu and Attakathi Dinesh as Poomalai, also known as Gethu. Notable performances include Swasika as Yasodhai, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy as Durga, and Kaali Venkat as Karuppaiya. Bala Saravanan portrays Anbu's friend, Kathadi, while Devadarshini plays Anbu's mother. Geetha Kailasam appears as Poomalai's mother, with Jenson Dhivakar as Poomalai's friend, Kozhandhai. The supporting cast includes TSK as Venkatesh, Mounica Senthilkumar as Durga's sister-in-law, and Karnan Janaki as Yasodhai's mother. Additional roles are played by Veeramani Ganesan, Sarath, and Nivashini P.U., among others, with Parvez Musharaf and Vishwa Mithran portraying the teenage versions of Anbu and Kathadi.
