"Lubber Pandhu" carries forward the legacy of cricket-themed films in Tamil cinema, highlighting the essence of street cricket, a cherished pastime in India. Directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, the film serves as a tribute to the late actor and politician Vijayakanth. Dinesh's character, a devoted fan of Vijayakanth, brings a sense of nostalgia through multiple references to the iconic figure throughout the movie.

According to the official announcement, the Tamil sports drama "Lubber Pandhu" is set to make its OTT debut on Disney Plus Hotstar on October 31. The streaming platform has secured the post-theatrical rights to the film, which recently hit theaters in September. "Lubber Pandhu" follows the journey of Anbu, a talented cricketer who battles caste-based discrimination while pursuing his dreams in the world of street cricket. Amidst themes of love, rivalry, and self-discovery, he squares off against Gethu, a former cricket star. Throughout his journey, Anbu learns that true victory lies in fostering unity and inclusivity.
Lubber Pandhu Cast and Crew
"Lubber Pandhu" boasts a talented ensemble, led by Harish Kalyan as Anbu and Attakathi Dinesh as Poomalai, also known as Gethu. The cast includes standout performances from Swasika as Yasodhai, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy as Durga, and Kaali Venkat as Karuppaiya. Bala Saravanan portrays Anbu's friend, Kathadi, with Devadarshini as Anbu's mother and Geetha Kailasam as Poomalai's mother. Jenson Dhivakar plays Kozhandhai, Poomalai's friend, while TSK, Mounica Senthilkumar, and Karnan Janaki feature in key supporting roles. Parvez Musharaf and Vishwa Mithran portray young Anbu and Kathadi, with cricket commentators Poobalam Pragatheeswaran and Adithya Kathir adding to the cricket-centric atmosphere. VJ Tara also makes a special appearance as herself.
