Maayi Director Surya Prakash Passes Away; Sarathkumar Mourns Loss

Surya Prakash Passed Away: Renowned director Surya Prakash, known for his successful films like "Maayi" and "Diwan," passed away this morning due to natural causes.

Surya Prakash was best known for his collaboration with actors like Sarathkumar, Meena, and Vadivelu in the 2000 hit film "Maayi," produced by R. B. Choudary and featuring music by S. A. Rajkumar. "Maayi" was a box office sensation and was later remade in Telugu and Kannada. Before his breakthrough with "Maayi," Surya Prakash made his directorial debut with "Manikkam" in 1996, starring Rajkiran and Vanitha Vijayakumar.

Despite the success of "Maayi," his subsequent collaboration with Sarathkumar in "Diwan" did not replicate the same level of success. He later directed the film "Adhibar," starring Jeevan, which marked his final directorial venture.

Upon learning of Surya Prakash's passing, Sarathkumar expressed his shock and grief in a heartfelt post on social media. Sarathkumar fondly recalled his friendship and collaboration with Surya Prakash, extending his deepest condolences to the director's family and friends. He prayed for peace for the departed soul and solace for those mourning his loss.

"The news of my dear friend Suryaprakash, who directed the hit films 'Maayi' and 'Diwan' with me in the leading role, passing away earlier this morning, is shocking and saddening.

Having talked to him even yesterday, his sudden demise in this transient life has left me with a heavy heart. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends who are grieving his loss. I pray to God to rest his soul."
