In February, Dhanush's brother Selvaraghavan revealed that while he did not write the script for "Raayan," he plays a significant role in the movie. The cast features Dhanush as Raayan "Raaya," S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram as Raayan's brothers, Dushara Vijayan as Raayan's sister, and Selvaraghavan. Also notable are performances by Imman Annachi, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Saravanan, Aranthangi Nisha, Anikha Surendran, and Ramachandran Durairaj.
