The GOAT OTT Release: "The Greatest of All Time (GOAT)" is a Tamil sci-fi action film featuring Vijay in dual roles. Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, this marks the studio's 25th production. Notably, it is Vijay's penultimate film before his anticipated political debut, with its global theatrical release on September 5, 2024.
Netflix secured the streaming rights for the film, acquiring the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions for ₹125 crore (US$15 million) and the Hindi version for ₹25 crore (US$3 million). Zee Tamil obtained the satellite rights for ₹93 crore. During the film's promotional campaign, Venkat Prabhu announced that a director's cut, featuring approximately 20 minutes of additional content, will be released on Netflix after the theatrical run. Typically, films are available on OTT platforms about 4 to 5 weeks after their theatrical release.
GOAT Synopsis
Gandhi, a hostage negotiator, field agent, and spy with Chennai's Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), collaborates closely with RAW. A devoted family man with a wife and son, he encounters new challenges years after his retirement. Together with his SATS team, consisting of himself and three other members, Gandhi must confront and rectify the repercussions of their past missions.
GOAT Cast And Crew
The cast of The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) features Vijay in dual roles as Gandhi and Jeevan, with Akhil portraying the younger Jeevan. Supporting roles include Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, and Jayaram. Sneha plays Gandhi's wife and Jeevan's mother, while Laila is cast as a doctor and Meenakshi Chaudhary as Srinidhi, Jeevan's love interest, whose voice is dubbed by M. M. Manasi. Vaibhav appears as Jeevan's friend, and Premgi Amaren as Gandhi's brother-in-law and Jeevan's uncle. The ensemble also includes Yugendran, Parvati Nair, VTV Ganesh, Aravind Akash, Ajay Raj, Komal Sharma, Abyuktha Manikandan, Anjena Kirti, Dileepan, Ganja Karuppu, T. Siva, and Irfan Zaini, with Vijayakanth and Y. G. Mahendran making cameo appearances, the latter using AI technology for his role.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ezhilarasu Gunasekaran and K. Chandru and wrote the dialogues with Viji, GOAT is produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, and Kalpathi S. Suresh under AGS Entertainment. The film features cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, editing by Venkat Raajen, and a soundtrack by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
