Vaazhai Synopsis
A twelve-year-old boy named Sivanandhan, along with his mother, sister, and friend, navigates life's challenges, with a plantain tree (Vaazhai) serving as a central symbol in their journey.
The production of "Vaazhai" began in November 2022, marking director Mari Selvaraj's fourth feature film following "Paraiyerum Perumal," "Karnan," and "Maamannan." This project represents the third collaboration between Mari Selvaraj and cinematographer Theni Eswar, who previously worked together on "Karnan" and "Maamannan." It also serves as Nikhila Vimal's debut film with Mari Selvaraj. Filming was conducted extensively throughout Tamil Nadu, including locations such as Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.

Produced by Sajith Sivanandan, Divya Mari Selvaraj, Mari Selvaraj, and Dhilip Subbarayan under Navvi Studios, Disney+ Hotstar, and Farmer's Master Plan Production, the film boasts cinematography by Theni Eswar and music by Santhosh Narayanan with lyrics by Yugabharathi. Kumar Gangappan handled the art direction, Dhilip Subbarayan choreographed the stunts, and Sandy Master managed the dance choreography.
Mari Selvaraj dedicated significant time to crafting the film's story, which is considered one of his best works. His previous film, "Maamannan," a political thriller starring Udayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh, was a major success.
