Production for "Vaazhai" commenced in November 2022, marking Mari Selvaraj's fourth feature film after "Paraiyerum Perumal," "Karnan," and "Maamannan." This project also represents Selvaraj's third collaboration with cinematographer Theni Eswar, who previously worked on "Karnan" and "Maamannan," while it serves as Nikhila Vimal's first project with Selvaraj. Filming took place in various locations throughout Tamil Nadu, including Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.
