Vaazhai Synopsis

Set in 1998, "Vaazhai" follows Sivanaindhan, a bright student from a poor village in Tamil Nadu, who is forced to lug banana bunches to help his struggling family. Amid his dreams and daily hardships, tragedy strikes when a lorry accident claims the lives of several villagers, altering his life forever.

Production for "Vaazhai" began in November 2022, marking Mari Selvaraj's fourth feature film following "Paraiyerum Perumal," "Karnan," and "Maamannan." This film also sees Selvaraj's third collaboration with cinematographer Theni Eswar, who previously worked on "Karnan" and "Maamannan," while it's Nikhila Vimal's first project with the director. Filming occurred across various locations in Tamil Nadu, including Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.
