Vaazhai Synopsis
In "Vaazhai," a twelve-year-old boy named Sivanandhan faces various life challenges alongside his mother, sister, and friend, with a plantain tree (Vaazhai) playing a central role in their journey.
The production of "Vaazhai" commenced in November 2022, marking Mari Selvaraj's fourth feature film after "Paraiyerum Perumal," "Karnan," and "Maamannan." This project represents Selvaraj's third collaboration with cinematographer Theni Eswar, who previously worked on "Karnan" and "Maamannan," while it is also Nikhila Vimal's first project with Selvaraj. Filming took place in various locations throughout Tamil Nadu, including Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, "Vaazhai" is a children's film featuring Ponvel M. and Raghul R. in the lead roles, with strong supporting performances from Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J. Satish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, Janaki, Priyanka Nair, and Nivedita Rajappan. The film is produced by Sajith Sivanandan, Divya, Mari Selvaraj, and Dhilip Subbarayan under the banners of Navvi Studios, Disney+ Hotstar, and Farmer's Master Plan Production. Theni Eswar handles the cinematography, while the music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, with lyrics penned by Yugabharathi. Art direction is overseen by Kumar Gangappan, stunts are choreographed by Dhilip Subbarayan, and dance sequences are directed by Sandy Master.
Mari Selvaraj has dedicated significant effort to create what is considered one of his best works to date. His previous film, "Maamannan," a political thriller featuring Udayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil, and Keerthy Suresh, also garnered substantial success.
