Directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah for Lyca Productions, "Vettaiyan" features Rajinikanth in the titular role, supported by an impressive ensemble cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.

Principal photography for the film began in October 2023 under the working title Thalaivar 170, marking Rajinikanth's 170th lead role. The official title, "Vettaiyan," was revealed in December 2023. Filming progressed intermittently across various locations, including Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music, S. R. Kathir handled cinematography, and Philomin Raj oversaw editing duties for the film.

Vettaiyan, the Tamil action drama film, is set for a global theatrical release on October 10, 2024, aligning with the festival of Dusshera.
