Vijay's 50th Birthday: Why Didn't Rajinikanth Wish Him? Blue Sattai Maran's Question Sparks Debate!

Vijay's 50th Birthday: Vijay, the iconic Tamil actor and leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party, turned 50 on June 22.
However, amidst the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy, which claimed over 50 lives, Vijay made a heartfelt plea to his fans and party members to refrain from celebrating his birthday this year. This decision was conveyed through a statement issued by Bussy Anand, the general secretary of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Traditionally, Vijay's fan association, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, has marked his birthday with extensive celebrations, including philanthropic activities across Tamil Nadu. However, this year's observances were more somber in light of the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy that struck Tamil Nadu.
Later, Vijay expressed gratitude via a social media post to political leaders, media friends, and supporters who extended their birthday wishes.
Acknowledgments were extended to notable figures including Chief Minister of Puducherry N. Rangaswamy, former Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi K. Palaniswami, former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Naam Tamilar Katchi Chief Coordinator Senthamizhan Seeman, and Makkal Needhi Maiam Party President Kamal Haasan. Notably absent from the list were representatives from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), including Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Cabinet Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who did not extend birthday greetings to Vijay.
Why Didn't Rajinikanth Wish Vijay?
The absence of wishes from DMK circles sparked discussions on social media, while another missing birthday wish also captured public attention. Popular film critic Blue Sattai Maran weighed in on the issue, questioning why Superstar Rajinikanth did not congratulate Vijay, stating, 'We can understand why the DMK did not wish Vijay, but why didn't Superstar Rajinikanth wish Vijay?' This query has ignited widespread discussion across social media platforms.
Reacting to the discussion, netizens offered diverse perspectives. Some criticised Rajinikanth, suggesting that he could not initiate his own party despite his long tenure in the film industry, whereas Thalapathy Vijay started the party effortlessly. Others questioned the expectation that Rajinikanth should extend birthday greetings to Vijay without reciprocal gestures over the years.
Anyway, this discussion underscores Vijay's influence and the complexities of celebrity relationships in Tamil Nadu's political and entertainment spheres, where gestures and omissions can spark significant public discourse.
