Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is a Tamil action-romance film written and directed by Gautham Menon. The film stars Silambarasan in the male lead role and Manjima Mohan in the female lead role. AR Rahman composes music for the movie.

Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada movie story is about love & road trip. Manjima Mohan, is a resident from Maharashtra. Pursuing career as an assistant director, Manjima stays with her friend's home for few weeks. Manjima starts liking Rajanikanth (Simbu) – brother of Manjima's friend.

Rajanikanth, who is an MBA student and bike enthusiast, plans for a bike long trip along with Manjima. In the road trip, they meet with an accident and at around same day Manjima’s parents are attacked in Maharashtra. 

The course of the events and the reasons behind the accident, attacks are rest of the story is how Rajanikanth protects Manjima and her family in Maharashtra from the goons to be watched on big screen.

Gautham Menon stated that the film was originally titled Sattendru Maarathu Vaanilai. He also described the film as one which starts as a "love story" and then enters a "violent / action space."

The film story is inspired by the scene in The Godfather where a bruised Michael Corleone plots revenge against the corrupt policeman McCluskey. Menon stated that he has portrayed cops as heroes but the cop is the antagonist. 

Dhilip Subbarayan was signed on as stunt choreographer. Though previously Marc Koninckx was reported to handle cinematography, Dan Macarthur was confirmed.

Manjima Mohan Replaces Pallavi 

By end December 2013, reports stated that Pallavi Sharda had signed a two film contract with Photon Kathaas and would feature as the lead female in the film. However, Menon clarified that it was not Pallavi Sharda, but another actress Pallavi Subhash. He conducted a screen test, auditions and a ten-day workshop before signing her for the film. Malayalam actress Manjima Mohan was signed as Pallavi Subhash opted out of the film. Baba Sehgal was chosen to portray a negative role as a cop.

Music

A. R. Rahman's inclusion in the project was confirmed by December 2013. As per the urgency of shooting, a single track with lyrics penned by Madhan Karky was recorded within three hours by the composer at his studio in Los Angeles. By September 2015, recording of all the five tracks by A. R. Rahman was completed. The music rights were acquired by Divo Movies in 2015.

The soundtrack album has five songs, all placed in the first half of the film. The fifth track 'Thalli Pogathey' which features vocals by Sid Sriram. It framed the score for the film's official trailer. Owing to the popularity of the Thalli Pogathey, Silambarasan recorded and released a cover version of the song on January 14, 2016.

The full mastered audio was handed over to Gautam and producers on his birthday, February 25, by AR Rahman. The teaser of the song Showkali penned by Vignesh Shivan was released on May 5, 2016. Later a week,the rap portion of the song by Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam and Sri Rascool was released which went viral.

AYM music album was released on June 17th, 2016.
