Critics Review

  • Amala Paul, after losing her husband in an accident, pins all her hopes on her daughter, played by Yuvasri. Her only dream is to provide her daughter with good education.

Actors who stand out in the entire play are Revathy and Amala Paul. While Revathy's performance is as refined as it can get, Amala Paul has given her best. In fact, this is one of her best acts after Mynaa. Samuthirakani's role is largely unconvincing as his antics as a government school head master are exaggerated in many places.

Overall View: Though Amma Kanakku is not as good as the original, it warrants a watch, for the movie conveys an important message in a light-hearted manner.
